You have no idea how chicken crazy. I have ordered enough eggs for two batches back to back and have been talking to shed making services trying to prepare for all the new babies. I have it bad!!!!!!

And my kids are talking anarchy. For some ridiculous reason they thought they were going to incubate eggs that they wanted! HA, why would the think something so totally crazy

jeaucamom, I have the same 1588 incubator. I have the same difficulty with seeing the water wells. Unfortunately, I started my eggs before seeing speckledhen's great tip using the magic marker under the water plastic water tray. So until this current hatch is over I've located an egg holder in the turner that was right over one of the water wells in the bottom. To add water I snake a piece of aquarium tubing through the vent hole down through that particular egg holder hole and to the wire. Then I use a 60ml syringe, that has a tip that fits the tubing very snugly, to add about 60-120ml of water each time I add water. I add water if the humidity goes below 46% or 47% on my hygrometer. The goal is to keep the humidy level reading between 40-50% the first 18 days. I've only needed to add water once every two to three days, but I live in the relatively humid southeastern U.S. Your mileage may vary.

Once this hatch is over, I definitely plan to use the magic marker method for marking the water compartments. I will continue using the syringe and tube method to add water to the trays as I can do it without opening the entire incubator.

There is no cure for chicken crazy described anywhere in any of the posts that I have found on the backyardchickens forums. The only known treatment is palliative (treatment for symptomatic relief only). That is you must hatch and love as many chickens as possible. Withholding treatment can result in increased anxiety, rebound effects, and will ultimately result in intensification of chicken crazy symptoms.

Some advice: Get the kids their own incubators as birthday gifts. Once they tire of them, then the incubators are all yours.

What an astounding idea. Jessica's birthday is in January. Caity and Austins in May. I will probably be through with all my eggs by then

I have already thought of backup plan B if my second batch of eggs gets here to soon. It may include getting another incubator before then. But fortunately, in the state of California, we are not forced to testify against ourselves.

I have some EE and Black Australop's coming and they should be here Thursday! I am excited to hatch mine out, though my bator only holds 20 eggs and I think I have 24 eggs coming total yikes! I have an R-Com 20 that i Just got, but am frustrated at calibrating it!
