It's here! It's here! WOOT!!!

I've never done the salt test but I do change the batteries after every hatch and so far I've only had to buy two acu-rites.....mine have been right on target...

I take mine and let them dry out well after every hatching with the batteries taken out...

Congrats to both of you on the arrival of your genesis's!! You're going to have so much fun

We are on day 12 with our new genesis and are so excited! So far it's been working great!
Best of luck to you both with your hatches!

I bought a new hygrometer and did the salt test on it and the hygrometer that I used for the first 20 days of my duck incubation. The new one was spot on at %75 and the one I have been using read -12% of what it should.

The 'off' one was a Taylor and the accurate one isn't labeled. I threw away the packaging, but here's a pic.

Just got a new genesis myself and man... it's just such a relief not to have to stress about whether it's accurate, or if the temps swings are too much, ect.

Edited, cuz HEY! where's my photo?

Aahh, figured it out!

It's to calibrate the hygro. Put it in a ziplock bag with a cup of wet salt, just a 1/4 c of salt wet down some. Leave for 8 hours and it should read 75%. If not, adjust your readings by the amt it's off.

If your Acurite is OUTside the bator, the hygrometer will be reading the room humidity, not the bator humidity. The probe does not read humidity.

Wow, duh me!

I didnt realize the probe doesnt measure humidity. Thank goodness you told me that! I like the acurite but the instructions were not too informative.

Thanks for the info! Never heard of that test before so it's good to know.

Congrats on your new bator, gumpsgirl!

I just got my Genesis a few weeks ago and am in love with it. I have 7 eggs growing out of 8 and can't wait for my hatch.
