Chickens in the bed? Tell me you don't!
Before you know it, you'll be putting them in diapers and watching CSI re-runs with them.
"Oh, the insanity!"
It's not intentional...we live in a hundred-year-old house where none of the doors really latch. An addition that is our bedroom (tiny house, mind you) has a half-bath/closet. The 'brooder' for these chicks is the closet portion, with an old window screen for a gate across the doorway, and a succession of old commercial 100% polyester tablecloths for the floor. Every day I take up the old cloth, old poo gets shaken into the compost, cloth goes into the LG front-loader on sterilize setting, and new tablecloth goes down.
...and then I went down with brutal cold. The chicks decided it was time to fly over the screen, as I lay weak and feverish alone in bed. They have mercifully decided to do their nasty business on the wood floor, and I can't get the door to stay closed to keep them out. I couldn't fix the problem while I was sick, so I spent the entire week as a roost for the little boogers!
It was very nice, mind you. They really didn't want to poo on me, and I loved the preening!
I'm up and snifflingly trying to find a solution now...but dragging!
Glad you're feeling better, and I hope you and the chickies continue your quality time & bonding experience together! I like being a "roost", too!
