Ya know...the requirements for keeping chickens seems to be more strict that the rules for keeping cats and dogs.

I have had 3 barred rock hens in my back yard for 5 months probably. When I presented this ordinance I worded it such " I would like to legally keep chickens in my backyard..what do I need to do to create a backyard chicken ordinance?" It is all about the wording. I never said I had any chickens I just said I would like to have them...and legally. Now I have protection so that if the neighbor dog ever gets a hold of one I can actually take action against the neighbor and have the law on my side.

Yeah, and I bet he is the type that lets his dog bark all night and run loose during the day! Those kind of people always make the most noise.

Yeah and he is a coach and has a temper so he yells and hollers at all hours. Anger management is needed! SO what can I do to keep his dog out of my yard? He has shoveled a path right up to my lot line so his dog has a personal walkway to my yard..the nerve!

When I decided to get chickens, I called the city and county to find out if I even could. There were no laws or ordinances against it. Most people don't even know I have 'em. I think I should have got them 4 years ago. LOL

I asked around too at first and no one had any ideas if cickens were leagal or not so I got them and them was infomed that they were not so leagal....very fine print so that was when I set out to create an ordinance for backyard chickens.
