HELP!! I am in need of a bunch of ideas to help my poor Silkies. They are currently living and sleeping in a very large coop with a multitude of different breeds and there's only three of them. All of the other chickens are full size (except for my bantam La Fleche(s)- they're part of the problem too...), and the Silkies like to sleep in small plastic boxes on with the fronts cut out in an old nesting box. The problem is, the full sizes and the La Fleches like to kick all of the shaving out of the poor Silkies' boxes and unless I get there in time, the Silkies are stuck sleeping in their poop with no shavings to cushion the hard plastic of the box... and I feel so bad. If someone could PLEASE offer some suggestions to help the shavings stay inside the boxes, I (and my Silkies Raylin, Miranda, and Dolly) would be SO grateful...

Thank you!!!

I'd encourage the silkies to roost by installing a low roost, blocking off their sleeping boxes in the evening and putting them on the roost for a few nights.
That is a good idea, but the only Silkie that is willing to roost AT ALL is my rooster. My hens are too short (and fat

) to hop up on the roost... my rooster is the only Silkie that knows how to jump. >_<
