I was planning on getting chicks this friday, but its snowing and there brooder is in the barn? HELP!

So long as you have a draft-free brooder that is 100 degrees F for them, it shouldn't matter. I've had chicks hatching all winter.

Yep.. make sure that the barn doesn't have any drafts and that you have plenty of back-up bulbs. We got 22 inches earlier this week, with 7 more expected Thursday. Brrrrr!

They are predivcting heavy snow here and I'm really worried about the power going out while we're not home. Neither of us can stay home, we have storm related jobs, and the risk of our cars gettign caught in the snow would mean death if we tried to take them with us.

Sadly we live rural and our only neighbor is NOT reliable to help.

This is why I prefer not to have chicks durign the winter, but my husband would not wait.

We got about 16 inches over the last 3 days. Remember snow is 90% air and therefore great insulation. The snow won't make the barn any colder.
