scroll down a little to see pics

Went down this morning and found the first egg has started to pipp. Maybe by this afternoon\\evening I'll have little RIR\\NHR\\? chicks. Out of 29 eggs I set on 3-9 only 7 were clear. I already have 11 hens and 1 roo. Looks like I'll have to find homes for some of these little birdied. Guy at work said he would take a few... We'll see how many the kids let me give away.

UPDATE: WITH PICS.

This is the first one to show up. A little RIR. I checked at 5:15 this morning and the egg that had been cheeping last night had hatched. By the time I left for the office two more had pipped and were cheeping.

We sat around the incubator last night for probably about an hour watching this little thing hatch. It happened quickly that's for sure. I had checked on them when I came in for dinner and by the time we were done it had zipped the shell almost all the way around. Little ones enjoyed watching the hatching process.

nice hatching pics......i'm in the process now....day 20....one egg outta 8 has pipped. it's a slow process!

I now have 10 little fuzzies and 2 more eggs pipping.

The RIR look like mini chipmunks with the stipes but there are a few that have very faint to no markins but are overall light brown. I do have a NHR hen and a couple of other's that look like red\\mutt mix hens. The roo is a RIR with lots of dark colors.

First time hatching. I didn't like the way the chick was struggling so I took all of the eggs out of the carton and laid them on their sides. The hatching seemed to go much easier for the others. Lesson learned: on day 18 they go from egg turner to laying big end up.
