Whenever the snakes (mostly rat, but a variety of others) start appearing near the barn I know it is time to re-bait my mouse traps
The snakes do a pretty decent job of keeping the meece populations down but I still worry sometimes about egg-snatching. I will admit do enjoy the snakes!
