It's all your fault that I had to check out Big R and TSC to see if they had any baby fuzzy butts. Never knew untill reading on here they had chicks in the spring. Wellll, as they say, I bet you can guess the rest of the story. Went in on Saturday to get scratch, saw 8/9 stock tanks full of chickies. OHHHH! Hubby was with but he is leaving for AK tomorrow so I'll check back. Well, on Sunday, threw Hubby on the plane and rushed back to Big R. Most of the 700 chicks they had gotten 4 days earlier were gone. BUTTTT there were a few silkies and Lt Braham's left so walked out of the store with ten. Well, you say, 10 isn't so many, but I have 15 coming this week and also this week am getting silkie eggs from Pumpkinpup in GA, figure I will make it worth the electricty by filling it with my mutt eggs. SOOO since I have a partner in crime, I called my friend Lori (chickenwoman), told her about the chicks and she plans to be at Big R when they open for the rest of the silkie chicks. So, just wanted to say "thanks" and I love ya all, to the enablers on this forum. Jan

I am chuckling about your story. I got started with chickens 16 or so years ago, when I went to a feed store for dog food. Saw those cute little fuzzies, got 2 telling myself, "well these 2 will survive the careless Easter present syndrome". I felt soooo righteous!

Now I have around 50- we'll know for sure after Wednesday's hatch!

Same here. About 12 years ago and have had chickens ever since. Just went for some bird seed.

That is hilarious!! My daughters and I talk about adding to the flock, but the arrangements that we make are when "Daddy has a meeting". Hee Hee. Like he won't notice the Silkies.......

I think my favorite stories on BYC is how someone gets started with a few chicks....and then it gets almost out of contol. It makes me glad I'm not the only one.

Can't be on here long because as my DH left for work and Im off to Big R to get some chickies.
Thunderchicken will be in trouble with my DH ! He wanted to call her DH but couldn't find his cell number !

Both our hubby's names are Don so we call mine Don and her's Donny.
We actually met here on BYC and live about 7 miles from one another ! We are on the phone almost everyday and have lunch once a week.
Our guys call us partners in chicken crime !

How funny, DH does not like me to got to TSC or Orschelns. Yesterday, dd and I stopped by Orschelns and they had 3-4 week old kaki campbells from $4.35 down to $2.00 each. They only had 11 left and I asked the guy what is the best deal he will deal me to take them all, He said $1.00 each! I told him to pack em up! WOO HOOO!!!!

They needed them out of there and we wanted them! what a deal!

Yup, it all started for me with one lonely rooster someone dumped on my property. I just wanted to know how to take care of him.

Now I have fuzzbuttitis!!! ROFL!!

I have 13 fuzzies in a brooder, 8 eggs in my incubator, 12 eggs should be delivered today, and 2 ducklings. Today we're going to a local feed store to LOOK at some other feathery critters.

I'm hooked!! LOL!!
