I've had pullet eggs before, but this is the smallest egg I have ever seen from a regular chicken. I've got two pictures, one is with a quarter and one is with a regular size egg layed the same day. Any thoughts?

With a quarter:

Congratulations...you received your first "fart egg!" That's what they're fondly referred to here on BYC. Probably no yolk...

Hooray for fart eggs! I remember my first one fondly.

EDIT: Oh, the way those happen is that a small piece of debris or tissue gets into the works, and the chicken's body mistakes it for a yolk, and creates an egg around it. Since the debris is much smaller than a yolk, the egg comes out much smaller. The joke is that it's a chicken fart wrapped in an egg.

at the risk of getting laughed off of here {grinning as I type}, is it OK to eat a Fart Egg?

By the way, my 7 year old peed her pants when she read about a 'Fart Egg". Thanks for the true laughter through the eyes of a 7 year old!

Seriously, can you eat such a small 'fart egg'?
