My biggest cuddly 9 month Easter Egger has all of a sudden, gifted me with a mini egg. She had trouble pooing as a chic, but seemed to overcome that with Epsom salt baths. She's been laying regularly, now entering winter in Colorado, though it's been crazy warm and delightful, it's far from normal. 3 days ago, a normal egg for her... always oblong, then today a fart/fairy egg? My other Easter egger stopped laying about 5 weeks ago, but looks to be molting. I have 5 total, 9 months old. My tiniest leghorn lays huge, strong, beautiful eggs. And my largest Egger, Beverly, now has popcorn fart eggs?? Is this normal?

Hi!

New layers or those coming off of a long molt or broody spell sometimes lay those little ones. Even those laying for a long time will pop one out for no reason, but that's rare. Yes, some call them fairy eggs.

I wouldn't worry as she should straighten out in a few days.

Just be sure there's a separate dish of oyster shell unless you have another source separately for them. :)

I don't get those eggs too often, but I think they're so cute!
