Yep - That's what Itty Bitty is!
The only thing I see different between mine and yours, is mine has more splash feathers on his body.

What color did you say yours was?

This one is still a juvenile one would say. But I call it a Black Face Red Breasted Just for political reasons

I showed two different boys lol...the first one looks like yours. more splash looking on the sides. when they molt it tends to go away on some and stay on others.

Another question: When are buttons full grown, how old are they?
I thought it was two months but ..?

The Darth Vader is just a coined name for the same name color. Some don't even have a red breast and are all black...that's why the "red breasted" term is being debated and it's best to go by it's phenotype.

Button quail take longer to mature than coturnix (6 weeks). I say an extra month for buttons. Some take longer due to their genetics.

I do not recommend putting the males together nor breeding mother to son (inbreeding

). I would just wait until Buddy can get a lady of his own. Did you ask the guy if he had any females he could offer you? Are all the offspring coming from the one pair you got from the guy?​

Well you see Buddy and the other male are brothers, and the female is their sister ... so really the female doesn't need to be with the other male either!

He said he had 1 male left, he was getting out of the buttons and getting into the Coturnix quail instead. He said he kept having too many quail get away etc. Yes - all the off-spring I have has come from the 1st pair I got from the guy.

That's why I really, really need different lines fast!!
I will probably be ordering eggs next week after I get paid for the quail.
