Quote: Huh...really? Less stinky? I only have 6 in my little flock. I have a smaller coop with a sand floor. I clean it every day, so I never have an odor...ever. But wow! Fermented food makes the poop smell less. Imagine that! Do you think it may work better for you if you try a different type of feed to ferment? Maybe it's just the brand you are using? Just a thought. With all the GMO's that are in non organic chicken feed, who knows what's happening with their bellies. I have never tried to ferment, but I may give it a go next fall. We are coming into spring and my girls eat very little commercial feed when they free range during the "green' seasons. Because I only have 6, I can afford the organic feed. Fermenting is very intriguing to me. I love the idea of the nutrients being more available through the fermenting process. Stick with it till you figure it out. I'm sure you'll get it eventually! Oh!! Just thought of something!! You said that your chickens are eating more with the fermenting process and seeming hungrier. Don't forget that they are also rapidly growing at this point in their lives and "needing" more food as they get bigger. You probably haven't reached their full grown capacity yet!!
