Hello there and welcome to BYC! :frow

Congrats on the soon to be new chicken flock! Definitely stop by our Learning Center for all kinds of good reads on getting started... https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/

And if you have any questions along the way, be sure and ask. Welcome to our group! :)

My 18-year old daughter and I decided last year we would get just a small flock of chickens this year. We originally wanted to build a raised coop but then decided to just convert a section of our shed into a coop. It was in very bad shape, so we've done a lot of work so far but it's still in process. I'll start a 'build' thread in Coops.

We'll be picking up our pullets on Saturday - they'll be 2 weeks old. We got 1 each: Ameraucana/EE, Barred Rock, Light Brahma, Buff Orpington and Welsummer. We mainly picked for heat tolerant and docile/social breeds. We'll also be integrating a <1 year old Polish that my friend has in her large flock that is getting picked on by her other chickens.

I've learned SO MUCH from BYC and can't wait to share this journey!!
Hiya :frow
