Don't be too sad. You didn't mean to. I love your picture, you should see if that photo is needed somewhere..... universities, websites, something. It is great. It belongs in a textbook.

I wont tell you about the duckling that i opened on day 24 because i ordered chickens and not ducks..and so i thought it was way past time for chicken eggs to have hatched...UGH! even my hubby was upset by what happend!

I would have not opened the egg. My thinking for every animal is to give it a shot. The worst that can happen is that you end up dealing with a stinky egg in a few days.

Most of my experience is with reptile eggs, but I have had very good luck sealing cracks and holes with liquid bandage. With your egg I probably would have painted it with liquid bandage and just waited it out.

Liquid Bandage! Now that's a good idea. I hadn't thought of that, or seen anybody else suggest it. I'll have to get some to keep on hand for damaged eggs, if I need it.

I've seen on youtube where people opened eggs and covered it with like srink wrap or celifane (spell check!) and it still developed. They made sure the wrap was touching all the liquid so it wouldn't be exposed to infection. Maybe you could try that? IDK if it will work though.
