what i said:

my first ever hatch failed today baby goose pipped but then it just kinda stopped the temperture was good humidity was nearly 87% but it just kinda gave up and then this green goo stuff came out i phoned the lady that i had the egg off she told me it wasnt a good sign and to pick away carefully a little bit of shell but the goslling had alreagy died she said it must have been too weak to hatch and the shell was way thick it was way thicker than any shell i have even seen on a goose egg so frm 6 eggs 1 damaged on arrival and one that i tryed to save with wax that had small cracks never started 4 started 1 quit about day 4 one about day 14 and one during lockdown about day 27 and then no hatch after all that i was even misting it evey 2 hours to make sure the humidity stayed just right.

some of you will say im sad but i buried the little gozzy in the garden and am now feeling extremely depressed

even nowing i have 4 silkie eggs doing alright cant cheer me up and even though DH wasnt very happy at the thought of me hatching my own eggs (has a fear of birds he admitted too today) he has even said how sorry he is and he will take me to get some more goose eggs to try again but dont know if i could face it again

I am soooo sorry that happend. I wish I could say something to make you feel better. Goose eggs are very hard to hatch. I would give it one more try. Stay positive, it will work out.

Sorry you had such a bad time with it, but don't give up. And it also sounds like you and DH cleared the air a bit today, good on you both for talking it out!

Geese are particularly difficult to hatch I tried Toulouse geese once never hatched.... I say give it another go with maybe a few more eggs just to be on the safe side

It's so sad. I'm sorry, but you have to stay STRONG! There is nothing better to cheer you on except going for it again and watching new life tumble out of the shell.

...

Remember :

the bators are soooo touchy

shipping is rough

fertility is questionable

the babies are working a miracle to get out of that shell...
There are so many things to go wrong.

And the best part of your story is that your husband is sympathetic. THAT IS PRICELESS!

Maybe order a random mix that is less expensive to keep an eye on the bator and see if there is a different problem...

The auction has tons of low $$$ eggs available right now. Just a thought

.

he was never really nasty about it just kept out the way he never stops me doing anything i want to do as i dont stop him doing anything he wants to do may give it one more go but not yet am going to see if i can get the silkie and my salmon faverolles hatch first see if i get some good things suppose it was silly to try goose eggs first but still very upsetting

Thanks everyone for your kind words too will keep everyone posted on my other eggs
