Hi,

As part of the signing up I'm supposed to introduce myself here. I don't currently own chickens as I'm still renting and while my current rental would be perfect, I'm not sure I can stay here long enough. And I don't want to get chickens to then have to rehome them because I can't keep them when i move to somewhere smaller. Their welfare comes first.

Now off course I'd love to eventually keep chickens (among other animals). And that's how I ended up here. Because in preparation of something that will never happen (me owning a farm) I'm looking up everything about breeding, flock management, coop design, etc etc.

My current hobbies are looking up all this information for my dream farm, and making business plans and scaling my dream farm down to realistic proportions XP I also take care of my dogs and cats. Love to read (preferably in English), and write. Cooking and baking is also a hobby of mine, though I don't do it often now that I have to visit a food bank to help with my food scarcity.

Looking for work, haven't had any luck finding something that fits yet. And dreaming of opening a CSA style farm that works on permaculture and syntropic practices.

I want to congratulate you on having a dream; some people go through their entire lives without having a vision of what they really want to do. You're luckier than they are.

And, congratulations on preparing for your dream, learning as much as you can beforehand so you will be better prepared when an opportunity arises. I admire the type of agriculture you want to pursue.

As far as "something that will never happen," -- while it's good to be realistic, it's also good to keep an open mind about the future.

You never know what's going to happen tomorrow.

Maybe you find a way to work on someone else's "dream" to get practical experience? Maybe you find a job that will give you sufficient financial support to get started on your dream farm? Maybe you start small and scale back your dream to an acreage or a property with enough space for some critters and some gardening?

I've lived long enough to learn that where you are today isn't the same as where you can be tomorrow. Keep feeding your dream!
