Oi, spotted our local 400 lb predatory raccoon this morning too.

Electric fence, noisy predator alarms, firecrackers (pick up the pieces after!!!), and maybe a paintball (biodegradable) gun if you're getting really stressed.

Just spent $150.00 on posts, electric wire, insulators. Luckily I had the fencer.

I agree. That's why I spent the money. I should have it up and running in the next few days. Easter is delaying my building time.

That first egg IS golden! Predator protection is a huge issue when you have chickens. This includes pet dogs, including your own. Ask me how I know this...

I hear ya. Our one rescue is part lab and grayhound. Her chase/kill Instinct is unbelievable.
She doesn't have access to the coop, but knows something is in there and she wants it now. Stares at the coop because she can hear the pullets calling out to each other.

I let everyone of my dogs get zapped by the electric fence. They all learned pretty quick. I did that the first day I put the fence up.
