So two days ago I found my banty EE sitting on a hoard of eggs (not her own, of course. She gathered up the other hen's eggs to sit on but ignored her own!) and she nearly took my hand off when I wanted to collect them from her. She is still sitting, and won't get up, I even had to take food and water to her on the nest because she won't go get it. Yay, a broody! She's like a little bulldog, all hunched up on her nest and growling.

I stuffed four partially incubated turkey eggs under her. Maybe she'll do better at hatching them than I have so far.

Yay for broody hens! I have a broody right now, too. I hope she does an awesome job with those turkeys.

Keep us updated--it would be funny to see her with some poults!

The BR that has been playing around with being broody has started sitting tight and wouldn't leave her nest tonight. Now after months of whining that I didn't have a broody hen I have two.

Good luck everybody!!

I stuffed six turkey eggs under her, tried for eight but six was all she could cover. I had them in the incubator, but have been having issues with hatching in there...so, there are six in the incubator and six under a hen. We will see if she hatches more than I do; I can't figure out what is going wrong with my incubator, so maybe this will tell me something. I don't know if she has ever hatched eggs before; I got her a few months ago as an adult and don't know anything about her, even her age. Her eggs are due in about two more weeks, they have been in the incubator for two weeks already.

Count me in this one as well. I gave in to my BA today and gave her 3 eggs to see what she can do with them. I let her have 2 NN / EE eggs and 1 NN / Ideal 236, but what the heck, it's more chickens, right?
