I'VE GOT A SERAMA PIP!!!!!!

Well, crud!!! It looks like 1 little black Serama is all I will get out of this batch! I candled the other 3 eggs and they are obviously not alive. They were fine when I took them out of the turner, but apparently died between then and now. I'm about to the point where I will just give up and have chicks sent to me!!! Well, at least I got one!! He/she is really cute. I can't believe how tiny this chick is - I'm used to standard sized chicks!!! I'll try to post pics this evening, but I'm not making any promises - the in-laws are coming tomorrow. . . . .

I'm sorry about the others. Don't give up hatching, though. The Seramas can be a little trickier than others sometimes.

when you want to give it another shot let me know and i will ship as many as eggs as you want for the shipping only... and that egg with the line on it was a only black breeding from a new line...

Thanks, Frank. You're the best!! I guess this little chick is going to be very spoiled since it's an only chick. The others I have are all enormouse compared to this one, so I won't be putting them together for a very long time!! Can't wait to get home to see it - maybe it will be all fluffed out by then.

I know what you mean, I found I get a poorer hatch with Polish, and the best hatch so far with Cynthia's eggs. Different breeds, and besides, hers are a mixed breed, and I think that makes them even stronger.

Ok, I'm not going to give up! This little chick is very sweet and loves to be handled. It just climbs right into my hand and chirps as if to tell me "I'm ready to go now!" Then it rides around with it's little head poking out like this is just the normal routine for a chick. What a character!!

I spent all day entertaining the in-laws, so I didn't get pics, but I should be able to tomorrow. I'll try to get one with him/her next to a 4-week-old standard chick just so you can see the size difference. It's almost comical how small these Serama are!!
