I have caught Chicken Pox Virus and its so itchy!!!

Why is it called Chicken Pox when its got nothing to do with chickens?

I got it as a child and did not know I could get it a second time as an adult.

Now I am stuck at home and very bored... thank goodness I have my chickens and pigeons to keep my company.

I told them I can now sympathise with them when they had avian pox last year.. but they don't seen in the least concerned for me.. and after all my round the clock nursing I gave them.. ungrateful birds!!!!

Anyone got any home remedy tips to help stop the spots itching so much.. and how to get over it as quickly as possible?

Rest! Cortozone cream may help with the itchiness...baths with baking soda...don't itch! Duct tape mitts to your hands if you must!

When I had chicken pox, I had to bathe with oatmeal soap and after drying off, I applied calamine lotion for itching, you can also take benadryl at the same time. I hope this helps. I know it's a miserable feeling but no matter what don't scratch cause it will leave permanent scars!

Had it nearly a week now... thought it was getting better.. but today came out in a second wave.. worse than before.. hundreds of spots all over my arms and body.....

Thankfully its not much on my face.. so I can still nip to the shop to get some food... covered up with a long sleeve shirt. Avoided any babies and kids.. and not have enough supplies to stay put a few days.

Have to hunt down some oatmeal soap.. sounds nice!

I never knew you could get chicken pox twice. It comes back as "shingles" instead, if you are unlucky. I know it's good if you get some light gloves, so you can't scratch as hard. We used calamine lotion

I was always told you could not get it twice... but I have.. and so has my brother. I have also spoken to others who have had it twice... and reading on the net found out its quite common... unfortunately!

I only had is very mild as a child.. where my mum and brother got it really bad.. and my dad did not catch it.

Now years on.. my brothers little girl got it.. and my brother caught it off her.. but only very mild with spots on his hands and arms only. My dad was looking after the little girl. .. and this time he got chicken pox very very badly.. and had to have medication from the hospital .. he lost all his toe and finger nails and the skin was peeling off his feet and palms too!!! It was scary.

But my mum never caught it.

Hopefully this is the last time I get it. I must have got stressed or something happened to lower my immune system.. because before it started with cold sores on my mouth... something I have never had since I was a child. Then days later I turned red.. like I had been sunbathing, and had a mild fever.., then the chicken pox spots appeared.. even inside my mouth.

I don't like having it or course.. but its kind of interesting about how the virus works and the human body... I think I missed my calling.. and should have been a doctor or something!!!
