Well, my Coturnix quail eggs are begining to pip, i believe i have 112 eggs in the hatcher, mind you, these were shipped from PA to CA so im curious how many live birds i will end up with!

I will keep the event posted on this thread!..........Jason

I just got in her eggs and only 5 were chipped from shipping all the rest are incubating happily. Most of my adult birds are from her

Yes we had a bit of a conversation about Angie and the eggs i got from her! The brooder is ready for the chicks, waterer is freshly cleaned, pebbles are freshly washed for the water basin, cat food is finely ground up, and more and more eggs are pipping! I have a feeling i might pull a large percentage hatch!

Oh, and i had the local gamewarden called on me today because someone seen my wood ducks flying around in my pen and thought i was keeping them illegally, i pulled out the proper permits and had a great conversation about how turkey season is going, how duck season was for me and that the other warden in the area is a friend of mine. It was a really a pleasant experience! I also told her that i will probably have Valley quail in a month and that she could come by and check them out as well if she wanted to! After seeing the proper permits she mentioned that she wouldnt think i was hiding anything, especially when my 30' x 30' pen is completely visable from the road! The funny thing is ive had the birds for over a year and this is the first time ive ever been checked! Nosy passer by's!

Sorry, had to vent!...................Jason

Well, woke up this morning to three freshly hatched quail chicks! Man, they sure are small!! During the window check i also see many more eggs pipping and a couple other almost busted out..........looks like i will have these little guys coming out of my ears, i love it, it will be a nice addition to the farm!!..........Jason

Struttin1,

I will sell a few eggs this year, depending on how nesting season is going, if you are interested they will be $10 an egg plus shipping and i have multiple pairs, so the eggs will all be unlrelated. As far as the pintails go, i only have one pair, so all the babies will be related, and i dont want to sell related pairs/eggs to people, unless they know they are related and thats what they want to introduce new blood to their existing stock. Last year the pintail hen laid 13 eggs and hatched them all!

If you would like some eggs, let me know and i will put you on a list, eggs should be going out sometime in April for woodies, and probably May for the pintails.

Take care!!...................Jason

UPDATE: Its like watching popcorn pop! I dont know how many are in there, babies moving all over the place and its to hard to count!!LOL. Last time i could count them about an hour ago i was up to 32 chicks!..............Jason

haha you go!!! that is so funny! YOu showed her! HAHA!!!! Woodducks are amazingly beautiful i'd love to raise them someday, but would need the permits and the money for their enclosure not to mention for them and all that jazz so for now i just admire others who raise them from afar
