I've heard of beer for my horses, but for my chickens?

Brewers Yeast is an organic way to fight fleas and other pests if you feed it to dogs & cats. I can see how a little bit of beer might have the same effect on chickens. We're not talking getting them drunk, though!

the yeast is one thing...I reiterate> alcohol is extremely toxic to birds (if you are going to slaughter them I suppose it would not matter)

First I've heard of it! However, my grandmother tells the story that when she owned her first dog (this was way back in the late 30's or early 40's when she was a young woman), a pomeranian grump, she became worried that she had got cold on her walk. As far as I can tell, there wasn't any real reason to believe this, but, on the principle that rescue dogs on mountains carry brandy, she gave this poor dog a tablespoon full of brandy. It ran around totally hyperactive for a few minutes, and then flopped down on the sofa and slept for 24 hours!

In short, not recommended!

They'd have to cross a road "
