Ok, I tried and tried and FINALLY convinced my fiance that getting some chicks would be OK. In February, we got 'em...awesome. Had 41...all made it to the coop and all made it until our bear attack last weekend

(see my bear attack post). We also got a few ducks and a pair of geese. Thyey made it through the bear attack but we were down to 22 chickens...

This Friday my man came home and said "I noticed a sign at the Feed Store on the way home that said they had chicks and ducks and geese..." He took me there! Thinking a could get a few more chicks now that our bear has dissappeared. Wow, really? I can get more!?! I don't even have to sneak...yep...he said I could get a few...

Alright, we go and they just got a shipment in...CUTE little peeps! so I start shopping...so fun...

I am thinking the whole time in my head...how many can I get before he says NO MORE...he has disappears somewhere, so I start loading up the box as fast as I can!

...and just then he comes up to me and says...

"Honey, you see those geese? (He had been playing with them in the corner!) The feed store guy says that they don't belong to anyone...you can get ALL of them if you want!!!"

I say "more geese?" He says "yeah, I REALLY like the geese...can I get them? I'll take care of them."

So...we ended up walking out with HIS 6 geese! and My 19 chicks (19 is a few, right?)!

Congrats on your new chicks, geese and picking a great man for a husband and upcoming marriage.

Quick! Marry him before some BYCer tries to steal him away!

Ahh! They are softies! Good luck

I've been offered 2 young geese, been hummin & ahhin

as I've never had any before but always talked about getting a pair of Guard Geese! The guy offering them says you can let them roam round the whole garden, they pretty much take care of themselves and aren't afraid of dogs - more the other way round

but I'm worried they may eat my flowers or something that is bad for them! I also have 2 dogs and one has a history with feathers that was not a pretty sight

and the other would probably be OK with them but who's to know?
I reckon we would need to fence them in a large area, build them a shelter and dig a pond.......
