I've just been laid off... Anyone else Unemployed?

Do you have any hobbies (knitting, baking, sewing, cake decorating...)you could use to hold you until you get your regular job back? Maybe you will start/find a career that is even better than the one you left!
Please try to stay positive at this time when I know it is extremely difficult.

I work in a restaurant too, luckily it's a corporate chain so we haven't had any layoffs, yet. They're talking about it though. What we are feeling is the slow-down in business, and even when people come in, they don't tip. Hopefully the economy will pick up soon so we can all get back on our feet.

I am sorry to here that you got laid off! I have been looking for work but it is really hard right now ( I am also picky of were I will work!) Where in Nor Cal do you live?

Go on craigslist for your area and look on the link that says "part time" and maybe you can find some quick short gigs that pay something so you can keep your car running. There are quite a lot of gigs in so cal, but some of it is stuff most people don't want to do, like babysitting Alzheimers people, data entry, phone sales, not glamorous, but better than getting stranded with no working car.

I'm really sorry for your lay-off. Things have a way of working out, though. Hang in there.

My dh just went back to work 3 weeks ago after being laid-off this time last year. Hopefully, he'll keep this one, we'll be able to rent out the other house where my daughter's been living, and I'll be able to quit work in the spring to keep chickens, bees and plant some raspberry and blueberry bushes. (it's my dream and I'm sticking to it.)

I'm so terribly sorry for all of you that have lost your jobs. I cant imagine how you must feel at this time.

Every day hubby comes home from work and thats all I hear about - how they have to cut back on this and that, budget cuts, losing raises, losing COLA's, etc. I'm so fearful because I am disabled so if he loses his job then we are screwed so I really understand the fear of it all.

You are all in my prayers...

I know it is tough to be without a job but thank your lucky stars you are not the provider for your family.

Being young without a job is hard.

Having to provide for you, your sibling(s) and your mother and all the household and living expenses is worse.

I'm sorry you've lost your job. Times are tough just now and without being the voice of doom, I believe things are going to get worse before they get better. Things are not much better over here. A piece on the news last night said that in 18 months times it is likely that 1 in 10 people in the UK will be unemployed. Not good.
