Ive never seen this before.

I remember the first time I saw one of my chickens take a dust bath. I freaked out, thought it was having a seizure, didn't know what to do....and then it just got up, fluffed off, and walked away.

Ah, the joys of being a new mommy.

I take my chicks out whenever it's warm outside and sit them in the sun for a little while. Before I have put them in a wire dog crate with the bottom taken out so they can peck the grass but can't run off and slip through the fence into the neighbor's yard.
 
Whenever I catch my roo dustbathing I almost have a heart attack. He gets down on his side and looks like he is dying or dead. My heart skips a beat until I see him flick some dirt on himself.
