I posted this to my state group, but I need an answer, and I figured this was a better place to ask:

2 1/2 weeks ago I used Wazine to worm my chickens. I intended to do a followup with Ivermectin tonight, but it is so hot (100 degrees today and probably most of the rest of the week) I hate to stress them any more.

Does the use of Ivermectin stress the birds and does heat increase the stress?

How soon do I have to do the followup before I have to start over with the Wazine?

Heat will stress birds. Worming adds stress to their system. It's best to follow up with a second worming 10-14 days after the initial worming. After that, worm larva have matured to adult stage and are already laying eggs to be deposited onto the soil.

i have 13- 9 week old chickens they have never been ill, i have not seen worms, should i worm them with wazine anyway? And if so what dose? Thanks in advance!

Thanks Dawg, for the input. I put off the worming too long, I guess. It is supposed to be in triple digits for the next week. I certainly don't want to risk their lives for a second worming. 6 of them are almost 2 and the other 5 are about a year old and they haven't been wormed (except for the Wazine recently). I may just wait for the weather to break this fall and do a double shot then (Wazine, then Ivermectin). They aren't showing any outward signs of parasites.

Just a reminder that they usually start to molt in the fall/wintertime. You really dont want to worm them when they start molting, too much stress on their system. Hopefully you'll get a shot at it within reason.

Hi Dawg,
Can you please send me the link to your valbazen worming dose/schedule & withdrawal period. I read it weeks ago and have spent an hour looking for the post now that the valbazen finally arrivedand I am ready to roll. Also, we have 8 hens and want to do a routine worming. Do I HAVE to worm them all at once? Their eggs are so different could I stagger worming so we have eggs that we can eat since we will discard the eggs during withdrawal.

Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge! Have learnedly tons from your posts.
