Izzy, My polish, loves to lay next to the duck's pool, she'll tuck herself near the corner or what have you.
we have had 7 days straight of almost 100 degree weather here in NH with humidity..
Yesterday this is where she laid, she looks dead poor thing, I am guessing the sand bag I have up against the pool for the ducks to get into the pool is cool

I know it's been hot for her because usually she is all over me being sweet but this heat wave she's been off on her own.. she has kind of always been like that, when she was tiny and I first brought her home she would jump out of the bin I had them in and lay on the floor by herself face down
odd little thing she is

Does your chickens behavior change during the heat?

Polish in general are odd birds. That's why often they can get picked on and bullied in a mixed breed flock. My last white crested polish was always by herself too and did her own thing.

My birds lay around in the shade more in the heat. I provide lots of buckets and pans of water so birds can always find water near by. I also refresh them in the afternoon as birds will drink more cold water in warm weather.

I tried everything to make sure they could try and stay cool, ice cubes in their water, in baggies for them to lay or stand on, even dunked them a little in the pool, they were content for a bit once they showed they no longer was enjoying it I took them out, I was holding them the whole time.
Frozen treats, I froze some watermelon slices for the ducks I put the slices i the pool they loved that.

She is a quirky bird makes me laugh.

I'm lucky, there is always shade somewhere in the run. I have a couple large metal bowls for them to stand in or drink and they have a corner with a sandbox filled with peat moss to dust bath which they use all the time. The coop run is sand and I think it makes that area cooler. I got this tent fan that input on in the coop about an hour before they go to bed and it's nice and cool in there. I also got a mister that is their level and they all use it, so I know they have a way to cool down. I do see loose poop every now and then and I believe it's from the heat, but I haven't saw them panting since I've added all this stuff. At one point I took a tower fan and put it outside of the enclosure blowing in. It did a good job.
