Hello all, I wanted to "review" my first experience with J&M Poultry Farm and their butchering process. I was more, MORE than pleased [IMG] I dropped them off around 7:30am, the nice young woman helped me move them off the truck. The price is 1.95 for an average of <5lbs, $2.25 for an average >5lbs and 25 cents for each bagged...plus some other "extras." I picked them up after 2pm and they were all bagged and GORGEOUS looking [IMG] She also helped me load them onto the truck (my dh's truck's bed wouldn't lay down).

Anyways, I just wanted to share the info with anyone who lives in Indiana and is wanting a poultry processor [IMG]

Sure wish we had something like this here in Florida. I don't think we have a processor that will accept small lots of birds anywhere in the state.

Did they tell you how they kill? Do they stun first?

Quote:No, I didn't ask...I figured they are the experts and I'll allow them to do their "thing." My assumption would be they do not stun, since it is an Amish Family, modern conveniences, such as a stun gun are not used.

Quote:Thanks for sharing this info! I am looking at possibly getting some meat birds in the spring. Your info on your BYC page really helped me, too.
