I have a very large Jade plant that I grew from a cutting about 6 years ago. It's grown a pretty big trunk and has been getting very tall. I do have to replant it in a larger pot because it recently became top heavy and fell over.

I do wish it would get a bit more full instead of the branches growing longer. However, I don't want to kill it either. If I were to cut off the tips of some branches (meaning a bit of stem and two leaves), would this help it to grow wider instead of taller? I do want to propogate some more babies, but I'm unsure how many of these "babies" to cut off. I'm going to attempt to cut them off where you won't be able to notice it too much. I don't want it to look like I just chopped off the tips of the plant! LOL

I will try to get a picture of it so you can see what I'm talking about. Hopefully some of you plant people can make sense out of what I'm trying to say!

Hi, I've had them for years. Pinch the center out of your new shoots/brances...save them and start new plants. It'll take it awhile to "branch out" and start sending out new branches...but it will and it will really make it appear more bush like. You will not ruin it by doing this.

I successfully took a "leaf" from a plant and put it stem side down in a shot glass of water. It started growing roots a few weeks later I planted it in a pot and its doing well! I would post a pic if i knew how.

I have a question concerning my Jade plant that is in the porch. We let our six chickens free roam during the day And today i noticed that they are eating my Jade leaves. Is rhis ok for the chickens or will it make them sick I will probably move it anyway but im curious if its bad for chickens.
