No matter what, if the rooster is a different breed than the hen - the resulting egg will not be pure.
For example...
I have a barred rock rooster in with my hens. Some of the hens are pure barred rock, some are other pure breeds. I could not say that my eggs are "pure breed" eggs unless I was sure that the BR hens laid them. Then they would be pure BR eggs.
If my pure buff orp ladies lay eggs, then the chicks that hatch from those eggs are going to be BR/BO mixes... not pure.
Does that help?

for this swap those would be considered mixed.....
for one, the hens are not EE.....
but with mine both the hen and the roo are EE.. but still considered mix because of the brown egg...
they were actually sold to me as aracaunas... i could have chose ingnorance and entered them as pure that way.. but since i know better....
and from what i've been told of egg genetics, blue gene is dominant, so if the chick hatches from a blue or green egg, it will lay some shade of blue or green...
which might be why the blue and green EE are considered pure fore this swap... ???

i was just paraphrasing what i was told when i asked

i don't know the technicalities of why it's done this way, and if i'd had known it would start a contraversy i would have just sat on my hands until shelley came to answer the question....

I didn't intend to sound harsh.
Sorry

If the hens lay blue/green eggs & the rooster came from a blue/green, then I'd say YES pure EE.
But, as you can see from the other post... not everyone was clear on "pure eggs" vs. "pure chickens."

see, that's a problem too though.. i have no clue what color egg my roo came from.. and obviously my hens that lay brown didn't come from green eggs, or blue.. but were still sold to the feed store as Aracauanas.. it sucks becasue i've seen arcaunas being sold on craigs list that i'm sure come from the dame feed store/hatchery stock, and i'm lucky enough to know the truth...
i wont know what color my EE roo is putting into the mix for another 3 months when his first offspring start laying....

EE's are tricky in general for stuff like this because some people don't mind htem being called pure, and others think they're mutts no matter what.. which they are... but....
and then you have people who think that EE is it's own breed that aracaunas and ameracaunas are mixes from that one always cracks me up...

i wish i had hens laying enough to play right now....
i have cochins and d'uccles pure that are ssoo close.. but i think they're gonna hold out on my till spring... and by then i'll have eggs coming out my eyeballs... lol...

Oh the debate I got started..oops mine are pure EE actually my roosters are pure Ameraucana but non standard colors so blue/green genes on all sides I state they are pure EE but then you will read the negative comments by some that all EE's are mutts so that is why I ask.I didn't want any confusion IF I were to send those...right now I have lots of options...subject to change at the whim of a hen

lol.. i totally understand... my hens are telling me i'm not allowed to play right now.. i even had to buy eggs from the store the other day..

i want more green egg layers...

I have an EE that hatched from an olive egg... she lays pink eggs.
I figured that her father must not have been a green/blue egg breed.
The only other EE I have is just a pullet... no eggs from her yet.

ETA: I had 4 blue egg laying EEs, but I lost them to a predator last April. I really liked those birds. They were a gift. Poor Phoenix survived the attack, but she's the only one who didn't lay blue eggs. Her pink eggs are huge (Jumbo size), though, and she consistantly gives me pullets!

we're getting so off topic sheleys gonna come in here nad give us the stink eye.. lol...

now see, that goes totally off what i've heard about the blue egg gene.... unless the olive is olive due to the dark wash of adark brown egg, which is sometimes considered red, and maybe if her dad was a brwon egg... could be that 3 browns oerride the one green??

i'm not certain anyone REALLY knows... nature is nature after all.... watched a tv show the other day where science (dna testing) told a woman she wasn't her children's mother... lol.. so.... yeah......

i have one of my brown layers that her first egg was as big as her sisters who'd been laying for 2 months... i'm almost afraid of what the eggs will be sized a yr from now... lol...

Ok. I may start a new thread but, I thought any cross of a Americana/Araconda with any hen makes a EE. Am I to understand the hens need to be laying a blue/green egg. I thought with my cross they were EE and the chicks will get the gene from the rooster to lay the colored egg. I feel stupid now, I think!!!

don't feel stupid, like i said, i don't know if anyone is ever 100% sure...

technically yes, anything that has ameracauna or aracauna in their backgrounds is considered an EE...

for this swap, and the crazy egg train, EE are considered pure if all 6 of hte required eggs to be sent are green or blue...

there's a designer train that's for crossbreeds and fun stuff that it wouldn't matter which color EE eggs you sent...

just a little technicality in the rules for these 2 particular events....

i have little 9 week old chicks running around that are technically EE's.. their mom is a leghorn and dad is my EE roo... thay're cute as can be.. i still call them leghorn crosses, but they have muffs and beards.. and they're mostly white with a black feather here and there.. lol...
