I'm curious... do you have chicks coming, or do you have eggs coming? Cuz you're not supposed to put chicks in the incubator. I'm sure you know that (giggle). It's just the way your message is written... "Got an incubator and got chicks coming from a breeder!"

I am in a silly mood this morning. Don't listen to me. LOL.

I go into lockdown on Monday, and I am SO NERVOUS! I only have ONE egg that I know for sure was alive last time I candled. If I lose it, I will be so crushed. This humidity thing has been completely a guess too, to be honest. I didn't want to make it too high because we live in the south and the humidity in the air is always pretty high. So I basically didn't put any water in the cups at all, and the humidity stayed at 30-40%. When I took the clear eggs out I had to add some drops of water because it got down to 20%, so now it's been hanging around 45%. I'm worried that if I fill both pots for lockdown, the humidity will skyrocket to like 90%. But if I don't, it will drop over the 3 days. WHAT DO I DO????????????? UGH!

On another note, I went to the livestock auction last night just to check it out. They had chickens, ducks, turkeys, quail (SO TINY!) and a peacock. I missed most of the birds because we were late getting there. It was really interesting, but I have to ask......what is the purpose of quail? They are so cute, but they look too tiny to eat! I'm not trying to be condescending, please don't take it that way! I am genuinely curious. No one wanted them at the auction last night for $1.25 each. I would have taken some just because they were cute, but I didn't have a number.

The first chick has hatched out of 14 eggs in lockdown and another one has pipped althought it pipped at the wrong end of the egg. Will it be alright by pipping there. I know it will probably be harder for it to get out but do yall think it will make it out?
