January Hatch Buddies?

i wouldn't like that either!! but they could just be late.....were your temps low?

Try candling one and see if you can feel vibes or see a pipping movement.I had some were due Sunday but my eggs usually start a day or two early. They didnt start pipping until late Sunday and I got another out this morning with 3 eggs still left. When I pick one up to candle I could see a pecking movement right at the airsack line and feel the lightest lil tapp.I think my problem with this hatch was instead of dropping them to the bottom of the bator they were toasted in,I moved them to another one I want to use as a hatcher for now.The temps were a lil off.

Hang in there. Are you sure you don't hear peeping? Try turning the room lights off, then shine the flashlight across the eggs. Sometimes the little guys will peep at it.

the first of our five groups was due to hatch Sunday night... we haven't seen a pip hole yet, haven't heard any peeps, all we have seen is eggs rocking small to fat end. I hope these little buggers hurry up before I have a coronary from all this suspense they have me in!

I am way behind everyone too! We are just on day 5. Really looking forward to candling. Will probably do it Friday or Saturday and see what turns up. Our first hatch so all pretty exciting. Good luck everyone with the slower hatches. That would make me bonkers too. Hang in there!

Mine are due to hatch Jan 23rd! I candled last night and out of 32 eggs, 31 are growing good

They are my project eggs of 20 "blue-laced" Barnevelder crosses (2nd generation) and 11 Barnevelder x dark cornish crosses (3rd generation).

I bet my dogs will be happy sharing their pump house with the chicks for a month or so. The brooder heat will make it nice and toasty warm in there.

One of the "Blue-laced" cross mothers. I'm hoping for some nice blue pullets to work with that show more double lacing. I also hope I don't loose any of the size! The 20 eggs are all from her and her 3 sisters.

"Cornevelder" cockerel hatched in Oct. He's huge when compared to a pure Barnevelder and almost as tall as the much older roos. Too bad he has a pea type comb. The pullets from the same hatch are very nice too, big, more loose feathered and single combed. I want more of the pullets and maybe too see if I get a nice single combed cockerel that like this one

The 11 eggs I set are all from his mother.

Here's some of the Cornevelder eggs in the bator.
