Japanes beetles

Not sure how many use pesticides but the beetles come from grubs in the ground. If you spray your yard with liquid sevendust then you won't have near as many beetles that eat up your plants. I spray my yard but I still get lots from the bugs from the surrounding fields.

I love the idea about the bug traps in the pen!

I think that for the first few years you will attract more beetles to your yard but in time there will be fewer. (but if you chickens are eating them, the more the better -- right?)

Mine love Japanese beetles. I pick them off my raspberry bushes for the chickens. I just dunk them in cold water to shock them so they can't fly away. Otherwise, it's just a waste of time catching them and having take off.

Mine think the beetles are even better than cracked corn!

We had a major beetle problem, but after letting my chickens free range a couple of hours each day they have all but wiped them out! (over the course of 2 years)

We hardly ever see beetles anymore.
