I see lots of ways to trap Japanese Beetles (I have billions and billions) and then feed them to chickens. Some suggest instead of just letting them accumulate in a bag or other device, to let them drop into a pan with soapy water (to keep them from flying away?) and then the chickens can eat them ass they float. I want to make sure that exposing the chickens to soapy water will not be harmful to them as mine seem to drink the plain water as they enjoy the beetles floating around.
How many are doing something like this?
I will cross post this in hopes of getting quick responses.

If you have to use soap, something like Dr Bronners Castile soap would probably be safest. I definitely wouldn't use dishwashing soap.

Just dropping them in plain water disables them enough to keep them in the water till the chickens get them. You can toss a leaf in there and the bugs will all cling to the leaf and each other. A nice ball of bugs.
