Hi guys,

What is the difference between the two kinds of quails? Which is better to breed and more egg production?

Thanks guys.

There is only one type of japanese quail. The scientific name is coturnix japonica. They are called by many names but coturnix is the most correct. Among coturnix quail there are standard size and jumbo. Color in these birds is just color it does not represent a different species or breed. Any color coturnix can be crossed with any color. Japanese quail are the easiest for beginners to raise.

Follow the link it will teach you a lot about coturnix.

PS For all intents and purposes there is no such thing as a japanese quail cross. The only distinction would be standard sized and jumbo.

I can be more helpful if you post pictures of the quail.
