japenese quail???

could i sex my japenese quail they are only 1 day old but i dont want to do anything cruel are there any ways i dont think there will be but its worth a try.

Even hatcheries with experienced chick-sexers (I assume you mean vent sexing) don't sex their quail or bantum chick. I think they are just too tiny to see the parts properly without stressing and killing a significant number of the babies. Especially of you don't know what you are looking at...I got a book and tried a few chicks and ducks. The ducks are pretty straight forward once you get the handling technique down but the chicks I think are really as much of an art and intuition gained through lots of practice. So I guess the short form answer is no. I bet they are really cute though!
