To AK_Button_Mama~~I wasn't trying to be rude, it's just that asking someone their age is frowned upon, and the forum (BYC) doesn't want minors posting their ages, for predatory reasons

I wasn't being picky, and I totally understand why you were asking, I was just saying

But 'most' parents would (I think) help their child with the care of their pets, I know I sure do. I swear, these darned guinea pigs are MINE, not my son's!! He hardly does anything for them!

ShellyD, mine dont bite, they peck!!!LOL Now ive been bit by hampsters and latched onto by cockatiels, parrots, parakeets and even my darling innocent little guinea's (i didnt have any idea that they actually bite and latch on, even with a little pressure to their bite!!) and my quail have never left me scarred mentally or physically, oops, except for the one time i got "tapped" on the nose by one of my quail when they were first turned out into their breeding pens!!!

The worst bite i received was from a Blue & Gold Macaw.........that sucked. Second worst was from a one legged cockatiel i rescued named "peggy sue" that i thought i could give a kiss on the top of the head, she didnt appreciate it and latched onto the part of my nose between the nostrils, i couldnt see straight from my eyes watering profusley!!!

Well yeah, I guess if you want to get technical, mine 'peck' too, but it is still biting imo!

I hope whatever part of you got bitten by the macaw is still part of you! I saw a pic in a bird book once that a friend of mine had. It was of a cockatoo that had gotten bit by a macaw, it had a huge piece of its beak missing!!

But the quail don't hurt, unless you don't feed them fast enough, then they just keep pecking

Nothing like the guinea pig that gives 'love bites'.....love bites my foot, she must really be loving, cause these bites are getting harder and harder!

I think that my being so age geared right now has to do with the fact that I am in the middle of this thing with Mrs. Ak_bird _brain with a 13 year old kid who doesnt take NO for an answer... I am sorry if I sounded "mean" or bitting. I was not trying to be that way! I am just a bit on edge right now cause of this situation. sorry guys! I should not have been so condesending.. this is a forum for learning... and I should not have reposnded if I wasnt willing to "help" as opposed to blocking a kid from getting birds (which is what I feel like I did) anyway I dont think any one was being rude to me and I appologize to any one who I may have upset! sorry!!!

I was pretty lucky, it was my macaw and i was rocking in the rocking chair with my one hand resting above my head on the back of the chair, "Rebi" timed it just right and grabbed my thumb through the cage, i was lucky he let go. I used to feed him these dark brown nuts that were absolutley like granite, he would crack them open without any effort. I ended up selling him to a breeder because he became very mean as he came into breeding age.

AK_Button_Mama, I sure know what you want to say does not always come out well when you type.....

I can't say too much, I have to run a new purchase past my 13 yr old daughter.....but then we are the ones who have to do all the work and building.

So far she is thrilled over the quail, but then I finally manged to kill one (not mine) and she was allowed to process it. So we are happily and hopefully going to have some home grown meat.....

I did not tell her about the speckled quail eggs from ebay that hopefully are coming...
