i just ordered idealpoultrys bantam special and was wondering if i get japonese bantams i have heard they need a heated coop i know im getting way ahead of myself but want to be preparred so if anybody has experience with japonese bantys please help me out with advice i think i prepared for anyother bantys but any advice will be helpfull

My Japanese have been in an unheated coop all winter and are doing fine. There is a Japanese thread in the breed section with some awesome pictures, you should check it out.

Yeah, some Jap owners find that their birds do better with heated coops but my one girl is pretty hardy for her type. As long as your coop is tight and dry, I think that will do. We're in the middle of a snowstorm right now and my hen is doing just fine, along with some other breeds that aren't known for their hardiness.

Here's that thread that was mentioned by Krazykritterlady.

I have 4 japanese hens, all are doing great and it is COLD and SNOWY here! It got down to about 11 deg.F last night, we have about a foot of snow on the ground, and they still sleep in the trees

They are not the sharpest crayons in the box, but they sure are cute! LOL

goodish news i dont think i got any witch is good and bad news i kinda wanted them cuz they are pretty but idk if i have proper facilitys for them

It gets down to 10 degrees here and I've had Japanese bantams for a long time, and I've never had a problem with them in the cold. If it gets in the negatives for you you might have to talk to some of the people in the colder regions of the country and see how their Japanese bantams do, but overall I wouldn't be too worried. My Japanese bantam hen, Sable, does just fine in the cold weather.

Ive never had a problem with them (just keep them away from drafts). In Illinois it gets COLD (can get to around -20 with windchill). Sometimes I do put a light on them if it gets below zero.
