Better be careful. Let them have the pumpkins. These critters can be real dangerous. My brother shot one with an arrow up by Kingman. The rest of the pack chased him up a mesquite tree and kept him up there most of the day. They ate the dead one while he was up there. He thought they would never leave.
I guess if one is archery hunting, he ought to have more than one arrow in his quiver.
I've always heard that javelina are actually of the rodent family. Kinda of hard to think about eating rats, so haven't eaten javelina in a long, long time.
Made a GREAT pot of beans once, though!
We have lots of them here. We have a river that runs across part of our property and they live down there. The labradork thinks they're playmates for her.
What a sight!! Great Danes running through the house, DH screaming at the Danes, DS yelling for DH to be quiet and stupid pigs just standing there looking at the idiots in the house!
Quote:
well if they are as smart as actual pigs..i can see why they put him up a tree... he shot their brother!!, and they KNEW it..... but, of course..being pigs..they then ate him...
They can be vicious and eat small animals. They are a type of swine, but that is a very broad definition. They are not pigs though. Pigs as we know them on the farm are of European origin and were brought here from there.
Oh Oh... DS wants me to get out my Colt 45 so we can have BBQ. If only the moon was out and we could see a little better. "If you shoot javalinas from an open window in your house..... You might be a redneck!!!"
