I cannot seem to locate the code online and we are swamped with snow. Anyone happen to know the code for keeping chickens on a residence in this area? I also have an HOA that does nothingso I need to check that out.

Hey Carman, Berkeley Co. here

Im not sure what you mean by code. ...like to get a permit? I think the big thing with HOA's is not to let them know.. maybe start off small with a couple hens and a cute coop and keep things tidy and smelling good. Most people won't complain unless you give them something to complain about. I know of some folks in Webber Springs and other subdivisions that have chickens and ...so far so good.

I presume there is something in the code of regulations for the county or state that talks about poultry on a residence. Thanks for your link. I am going to check that out.

In Jeff. I believe you can do what you want as long as you aren't in town limits or are under the restrictions of an HOA... though there may be some sort of acreage ordinance which would state you need so many acreas to have poultry but, I don't think that is the case... You can always call the county and ask.
