We purchased new babies in March and among them were silkies. We've noticed one of the buff silkies is acting strangely. Its head is jerking and or nodding off to the side in a repeated motion. We've also noticed she does a lot of backing up for no reason. This looks neurological to me and is this something I should have checked? Or is it something she'll grow out of? Any suggestions?

Definitely neurological, the concern is wether it’s nutritional, bacterial, viral, or congenital.
You can boost their intake of b, e, & a vitamins, that will resolve it if it’s a nutritional problem.

There are a few viruses that can cause neurological problems so a vet may be a good idea to figure out the cause, viruses like Mereck’s and Lymphoid Luekosis do have vaccines, sometimes they aren’t 100% effective but it’s important to make sure your flock is vaccinated if they aren’t already.

Thank you for the reply. I've not seen this before and so I wasnt sure how to respond to it. I'll be taking it to the vet. The head bobbing is to the side and looks to be something we'd see in a Tourette's patient. It's a repetitive motion that leans left and it's back and forth. I've read that sometimes it's a vitamin deficiency and to use selenium in conjunction with other vitamins. Thank you again for the responses.
