I have just hatched some of the jersey giant hen crossed with barred rock rooster and I was wondering if anyone had any pics of this cross to share.

According to the chicken color calculator, the offspring of a barred male and a black female, should produce all barred chicks.

I dont have any pictures of the actual cross though.

They're all going to be black barred. Since only one parent is barred, they'll all only have one barring gene so you can't sex them by the normal rules of pure bred barred birds. Since the barred parent was the father, you don't have any sex linkage.

That is exactly what I was wanting to know. I appreciate that input!! I just hatched out 16 out of 16 eggs in my first batch and some were the Barred Roo x Jersey Giant hen, Others were barred rock crossed with barred rock. You explained that well. I now have my roosters separate from the flocks for the next breeding so that I will not have the cross next time. Thanks again. :)

I seriously can't believe I had 100% hatch! Lol I'm staggering my hatches a week apart each group and have three more groups to go before I start to incubate my buff orpington eggs. I now have my flock separated so no more crosses after these babies. Although I still think they are awesome.
