Jersey Giant/ORP cross

I was looking at my Giants today and it got me to wondering. Would a JG cross with an Orp make a nice sustainable DP breed? I love the temperament of the giants but I haven't eaten them yet, the orps are wonderful eating and laying birds. Has anyone made this cross?

If you're a patient person, the cross would be a slightly slow grower, as Jersey Giants are (at least, they should be. . . ) Again, as I always say, it depends on where you got your birds from. A non-hatchery Jersey Giant can grow to weigh over ten pounds, and an Orpington at 9 pounds. . . Hatchery type birds weigh a LOT less and grow faster though.

But, consider hybrid vigor.
