I am thinking of getting some jersey giants this spring. They probably won’t be properly sexed until after I buy them. This means that some could turn out to be roosters.
So I have a question.
Would it be safe for a Jersey Giant to mate a bantam silkie hen?

General rule of thumb is no more than 2x of the hens weight, though often people still can get away with 6 pound males mounting bantams if they are gentle breeders and the hen is willing. Average bantams are between 2-3 pounds at most and jersey giants can get upto 13 pounds

I read about their weight , so thought I’d check.
Guess no straight runs then!

Nobody wants extra roosters!
