So, i see a few black Jersey Giants around, but never any other colours! This is my little splash chick, (my only chicken I’ve hatched from an egg!) she’s 2 months currently, and at the bottom of the pecking order suprisingly. She is the most friendly chicken i have though. I’ve added some pictures of her and how she’s looked over these months, in case there’s many more out there with another splash Jersey!

I've had black, white and blue JGs. One of the blues turned out to be splash.
Blacks came from Cackle Hatchery. Whites and blues came from Sandhill Preservation.
All great birds. If I had more time and room, I'd raise them again.
Wish they were more common in the UK!

I don't handle my birds as a matter of course so most aren't very tame. But JGs are the only breed of over 30 breeds that I could walk up to in the field and pick up.
I dubbed them Gentle Giants. That said, I've never had roosters. Sadly, a neighbor's husky/malamute crosses killed a white and a blue cockerel.

I'm the same way, I only pick them up when it's absolutely necessary. Even as chicks I never handled them more than I had to, no hand feeding or anything. They are still super friendly! Gentle giants is a perfect name for them! Some how I ended up with Black Australorps, and Barred Rocks that are just as friendly though.

She is a pretty girl :) I had 3 Black JG's sadly they didn't work out with the rest of the flock. All three were feather pickers so I culled the worst picker of the three and re-homed the other 2. From what I have heard from the new owner they are doing fine, not picking and being kept in line by the Boss hen, a Barred Rock. My Wy's I'm sure were glad to see them go as well they were the ones being picked, and they are finally getting their back feathers again.

Here is my blue JG bb "bigboy" king. In the second pic im holding him for our selfie it is blurry but you get how big he is there. His waddles are close to 4 in long! Poor guy looks to have gotten frost on his comb b4 he came home with me.
