Has any one used a jersey giant as a meat bird? What was the feed conversion? How old do they need to be to process?

Thanks in advance,

Jerseys are not good meat birds. If you are raising Jerseys for pets/show then you could eat the culls, but they take FOREVER to fill out and until they fill out, they are tall and lanky bag of bones and feathers.

I don't mean to be a downer, it's just I have a Jersey Giant roo and it seems it took him 1.5 years to fill out and he's big, but to feed him for that long surely isn't economical. LOL

Ditto. They grow their frame the first year, then start filling out the second year. Another choice are the Buff Orpingtons or Dark Cornish for meat/dual purpose birds.
