We have a jersey giant and she is 19 weeks old. I thought her comb and wattle would turn red at some point but it’s still super dark! Is this just a sign of immaturity? I know for other chickens the bright red comes when they are about to lay, but seems hard to go from black to red, no?? Haha her wattle seems to be starting to change a little but do their combs every stay black?? Picture for reference 🙂

Looks like something mixed maybe?
Where did you get her?
I’m thinking Cemani or Swedish black mixed?
What color are the bottoms of her feet?
We got her from a local farmer that got her from a hatchery 🤷🏻‍♀️ those breeds are super cool, and I do wonder if she’s a mix with something because she has many similar traits, but it also sounds like those are pretty rare so who knows. Here is a better picture of her. Bottoms of her feet are dark but have some yellow to them still, and her eyes are super large and jet black and she started off as the smallest but now she’s the largest chicken in our flock .... she’s super cool but now I’m wondering what she could be!😊 and now I’m excited to see how her eggs come out !
