Ok..easy. Now this is how it works on a pc...a mobile is much different.

Depending on what part of the forums you want to start a thread...you would click on that tab at the top that says Forums. Lets say you wanted to post in the Feeding and Watering Your Flock section...You would click on that heading. Then at the top beneath the heading of Feeding and Watering Your Flock, there is a blue/grey button that says, Start A New Thread. Click on that and you are there...Type your thread and click on submit.

If this is on a mobile devise, you may need to down load the BYC app. ( I have never used a mobile, so I am not sure how it works) But I think you can find that app at the top on this part of the forums...

Good luck!

I also wanted to know what everyone thought of pine wood shavings as opposed to putting down hay.

Hay can mat up when wet. I used to use grass hay. It is ok if you clean it every day and get the poop out of there. I don't like shavings for the simple fact that around here they are expensive and mine seem to come as more like dust. So eventually I switched to sand. I worship sand now. LOL I love the stuff as it is very easy to maintain and clean, no flies, smells and it is easy to hose down in the summer to keep the birds cool. If you have a coop that is on the ground, I would recommend sand. (the coops that are small and above ground can have weak floors and sand is heavy) Here is a thread on sand if you are interested on the hows and whys of sand...

If you keep clean facilities, grass hay works well. If you don't have as much time to clean, pine shavings might be a better option. Just my humble opinion. :-)
