Jest Another Day in Pear-A-Dice - Higgins Rat Ranch Conservation Farm in Alberta

Just as long as you guys keep on taking things easy, have a bit of fun!!

Scott

I'm thinking...maybe having one of these on standby would be a good plan...

Tara a St.Bernard would NEVER get through you doggy door- he would probably take the whole wall with him. I love those pictures of Fixins and the geese, you can almost read her expression and body language.

You are ever so right in that...I am not sure I would let a drunkard in the Man Porch...or at least one capable of making someone a drunk!

Black geese?? ...black SWANS DD!

I know you meant swans...we oldtimers get more efficient as time chugs along...why say "swans" when goose will do...course if I called Pearl a goose, she'd be sure to GOOSE me to make sure I didn't do that again!

Tara, pardon me I seem to be deviled by loss of brain cells- I hope it's not like rats leaving a sinking ship. What do you think you must know more about RATS than anyone. Hope I have a few more fairly normal(for me) years left.

Heel low:

SEVEN...yeh, a week...seven more days. Can I behave...hardly!

Well, it is quite cute to see what lengths my Hero will go to for his family and soon to be family members.

Absolutely nothing unnerves this fella...nothing.

On Sunday, as a precaution, I call the carpet stores I figure are likely to have an industrial rubber backed carpet like we want...HA...none are open on a Sunday...none! So I tell Rick, if we go to Red Deer, it will be a wasted effort. He says, "How do you feel about going to Calgary to get those two bags of pupper kibs you tracked down?" "OK"...not knowing, yes, the weather was predicted to be stormy but not like it turned out.
barnie.gif

Frozen in July...the weather here can be ever so frightful. Yeh, we get to about an hour away from Calgary (half way thar) and holy Hannah...man alive...FOUR inches of hail, I mean pea size, but FOUR INCHES of hail...it drug you around and I guess I was not the only one indifferent to the weather forecast...motorcyclists...my good GACK! Tons of bikes pulled over on the shoulder...so bad some were hanging their backtires ON the dang road! Cripers...anyway, Rick carefully navigated thru, even threw on his emergency beacon so he could be seen. His concern was the people coming down the hills would hydro plane and smash into us...but we made it! White knuckle ride indeed.

Funny thing, this saying or one thereabouts is thought to be an official post office motto but in reality, it came from

http://www.infoplease.com/askeds/post-office-motto.html:
So yeh, like Christmas storms in July won't impede us on our journey to get ourselves ready. There are now TWO bags of puppy kibbles safety stowed in a large plastic container meant for just that...to keep the kibbies fresh and dry...awaiting tiny pupper mouths to slurp it up. Those girl tum tums will not get upset...steady eddy and good chow downs.

Yesterday, was puppy playground equipment construction day for moi...counted my fingers and thumbs today, still got them all..so did good.

Puppy balance beam...

Pretty cute, eh!

Carted it out...had the ruminant crew out mowing. Things never to go unnoticed here...anyone EVER tell me a beast is dumb...yeh, not here they ain't. Not dumb and they notice everything and anything. Inspections were in order...order of the day, eh.

Now I am not sure if the ruminant will let the pups have the play area to themselves as planned.

Oh yes, goat sticks head in tire and runs off with whole tire jump grappled around body...yeh...here comes the rodeo wreak!
hmm.png

What made me laugh was I had pulled some grass growing in the gravel at the pasture gate, shook most of the rocks off and tossed in in a five gallon pail to remove later...

Who decides the whole pasture is not good enough for the likes of them...doe goat Heidi...much more appetizing to STEAL clumps of grass outta a pail--culled clumps. Oh sweet...sweet as stolen candy...sheesh!
hmm.png

Dumb animals...HA! Heidi KNOWS she is stealing...she knows right down to her very bones...see the lean, see the stretch--dunna wanna get caught STEALING!

The hillbilly tuggy timber work in progress is progressing. Yeh, it is totally a rednecker and I love how it's made outta old wooden crates, sawhorse, big hunka wooden timber ...all this and that's we had kicking around. Totally Heeler appropriate, eh! I can almost hear the dueling banjos on the wind in the background.

I got the corded toys out hanging to check height, gotta add rubber bungies to make for soft tugs for girls. Then gotta ask Rick to assist in how to attach this safely out at the playground area so the pups don't pull the whole contraption over on themselves...

No TIMBER...flat puppy breath makers...flat as a pizza is not on the menu here!
roll.png

Speakin' of food...my kid buys premade pasta, so was on sale thought I'd try it...beef tortellini...

However the tub of sauce to go with it, was like five bucks...me too cheap (cheep cheep--thrifty?) to swallow that price, so bought cream and mush and made my own...

Turned out good but Rick never much liked it...never been a cream sauce and pasta guy...Fettuccine has never been something he's wanted but he does eat mac & cheese and things like lasagne so no complaints on my part. I might round this up to having it when I make him fried liver. Two meals that make each other happy but not to share together...har har.
lol.png

Well it has been a good growing season thus far...hail but pea sized and not in any amounts...YAH! Regular rains...I weeded the onion patch yesterday and marvelled at the height of the corn. 53 day maturity date and may, may just get some cobs...so that would be something to celebrate...corn roast on Man Porch!

Higher than a five gallon pail...woot, eh!
Lots of greens to harvest and share with the creatures...using a knife to cut off the romaine and leave the roots to form more heads.

Lotsa GREENS!

How does your garden grow?

Beans are busting up and zucs and pumpkins are pretty substantial plants a growing...now for some heat (this weekend I hear) and one can almost see the growth ramp up. Bully!

Still gotta get round to weeding the pathways, but hey, beds first, pathways second. At least in my area of priorities, eh!
tongue.png

So it's down to a week...and we be weak ... in the knees...tee hee...hee tee...
